This live lesson focuses entirely on the “Blushda”: a hybrid rudiment whose origin is commonly traced back to Tony Williams. This rudiment can be considered a combination of a flam and a drag in a non-alternating fashion, or also a collapsed version of the ‘Lesson 25’ rudiment. Considering this rudiment is often used in a similar way by many drummers, this lesson is a rather unique one as it highlights the elements within the Blushda, their expanded versions, as well as many permutation options for practice. In this way one can find many new musical ways of expressing themselves and get plenty of mileage out of the Blushda!
