This lesson has something in it for drummers of all levels in terms of playing fills across the barline. Besides being an opportunity for some rhythmic trickery, phrasing across the barline can be a creative way of musical arrangement within a band, or while composing.

Using a 4 over 3 structure, several rudimental patterns are applied to this polyrhythm with the later exercises exploring more odd stickings and the musical opportunities that they provide.
