Course Content
Course Sample
Welcome to this course about Konnakol - the world’s oldest percussive language originating from South India. Konnakol is the art of reciting rhythmic syllables in any given underlying time cycle, called TALA.
Konnakol is a beautiful and effective way of communicating and sharing rhythmic ideas, and a very helpful tool in teaching and learning the fundamentals of rhythm.
Based on my studies with the great percussion master Selvaganesh Vinayakram, this course will give you an insight into the essential elements of Konnakol. Once you are able to recite the rhythms and patterns, you can apply them to your drums and of course to any musical instrument. Konnakol will give you a unique insight into rhythm and the opportunity to broaden your rhythmic awareness, ideas, and overall execution.
