Deconstructing Sarvalaghu Grooves

Sarvalaghu, as in, Smooth Groove! In this lesson Claudio Spieler runs through some typical flowing rhythmic patterns in the Carnatic drumming tradition, which are often used to underline the given time signature and to maintain a smooth groove during accompaniment. This could be compared to a nice back beat played by your favourite drummer, for the band to sit on top of!

You’ll find the corresponding section to this topic on pages 29 to 32 in Claus’ and Claudio’s book “TALADIDDLE – Konnakol meets Rudimental drumming”.
